The final step in the IVF treatment cycle is the embryo transfer, and after it, you need to wait nine days before taking a pregnancy test. This waiting period can be emotionally challenging, but there are things you can do to keep yourself occupied and ease your mind.

Here are the top ten things you can do after an embryo transfer:

  1. Get back to your normal life. You don't have to go on bed rest or lie down all the time. Just consider yourself a woman who wants to get pregnant naturally.
  2. Return to work. This will help you stay preoccupied and avoid thinking about the process all day long.
  3. Do light exercise. Yoga or going for walks can help you relax and create the optimal conditions for pregnancy.
  4. Go swimming. You can go swimming in the sea or in the pool with peace of mind, but make sure to change into a dry bathing suit and avoid sitting on wet towels to avoid contracting any bugs.
  5. Follow the medication instructions. Make sure you have an adequate supply of your medications and understand how to take them to avoid further stress.
  6. Avoid sexual intercourse. It's not advisable before your pregnancy test as it may cause spotting that may make you feel stressed.
  7. Embrace healthy eating habits. Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, as well as foods rich in calcium, protein, B vitamins, and iron. Add a prenatal vitamin to your routine with your doctor’s guidance
  8. Don't perform a pregnancy test before the recommended date. By doing so, you'll add extra stress levels, and earlier tests may be falsely negative.
  9. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and smoking. Caffeine intake should be limited, and smoking should be avoided altogether.
  10. Keep your mind busy. During the nine-days wait, start activities that you usually didn't have time for before. Reading a book, going for a walk, going to the cinema, or whatever relaxes you can help you cope with the waiting period.

In summary, after an embryo transfer, it's important to stay as much relaxed as possible. Stay busy and find activities that give you pleasure to pass the time until your pregnancy test.
