- An IVF Journey
When my husband and I learned, after 5 egg collections and 2 rounds of PGS testing with a London fertility clinic our greatest chances of conceiving would be though an egg donor we were devastated. But after consideration and with our desire to start a family we started the process of seeking an egg donor. While our London clinic was extremely supportive, the donor waitlist was long and options available not suitable for us. We then decided to look abroad, first starting with Greece, where my husband is from. We took advantage of an information day that Newlife held in London and were immediately reassured by the professionalism and empathy from Chrysa and Dr Dovas. They carefully walked us through the process of identifying donors, the health screening checks and how the procedures would take place. Within 3 months they were able to select a matching donor that we approved, and a few weeks later we were happy to learn that we had 3 good quality embryos that we hoped would help us start our family.
Due to some minor complications with my own health, we ended up having to wait several months before we had our embryo transfer as I underwent treatment and consultation in the UK. It could have been a stressful time as we were so anxious to have the transfer. However, Chrysa was an absolute gem in helping me coordinate between Newlife and my UK NHS consultants. It was perhaps way out of her remit, but she happily took all my calls and answered all the questions that needed answering. Finally, 6 months after the creation of our embryos, we had the transfer in their amazing facilities – flying in and out of Thessaloniki with an overnight trip.
My husband and I are now just 3 weeks away from meeting our son. We cannot thank or recommend or thank Newlife enough for finally helping us realise our dream of starting a family. Their diligent approach and professionalism not only made us feel comfortable throughout the process but also confident for our choices.
