When we started our fertility journey 5 years ago, I thought our treatment would be local and, if I’m honest free.

I thought surely, if you struggle to have a baby naturally with the national health care we have, we would be supported. We were wrong! I was basically tested for an inch of my life, as was my husband then COVID messed things up.

We started again and then got declined via letter through the post. No explanation, just no thanks. So impersonal and heartbreaking. We could have given up.

Instead, I did my research, and I decided instead of just looking local, I was going to look for the best team. The best reviews, the best customer care. And no matter what I searched, up popped Newlife. I’d never even heard of Thessaloniki prior to this. I’d been to Greece multiple times, but this was new. Could I really go abroad for this? I organised our consultation, and we were both so nervous prior to our video chat. But after the chat, we knew it was the right decision!

The level of detail and care and excitement from the team was something we had not experienced until now. We finally got excited, like this could really happen. We’ve had losses in the past and it’s emotionally draining but they gave us back our hope. We worked out our plan, step by step. Had 2 separate visits to the clinic one for egg collection and one for frozen transfer. Each time it was incredible the team are so welcoming and kind. So much positivity. The clinic is beautiful. Greece is beautiful. I’m not going to say IVF is easy as it’s not, it has it’s moments! but with the level of support provided, we got through the tougher days. And I’m happy to now report after my first round with 18 eggs collected, 12 mature, 9 fertilised we had 6 excellent quality frozen embryos.

And now one of those has been transferred successfully! With 5 still on ice. We are still in shock. But we are happily pregnant.
